Does my pharmacy participate?

If you travel, you are very likely to find a participating pharmacy near you. Medi-CareFirst's in-network pharmacies include:

• 1,400 pharmacies in its service area of Maryland, the District of Columbia and Delaware
• more than 60,000 pharmacies nation-wide
• most major chains
• retail, home infusion, and long-term care pharmacies

Generally, we only cover drugs filled at an out-of-network pharmacy in limited, non-routine circumstances when a network pharmacy is not available.

If you are traveling within the United States and become ill, lose, or run out of your prescription drugs, the Medi-CareFirst Part D plan will cover prescriptions that are filled at an out-of-network pharmacy. 

You will have to pay the full cost (rather than paying just your copay) when your prescription is filled and will need to submit a claim form (78KB, 2pgs.)   when you return home.

You may be responsible for paying the difference between what we would pay for a prescription filled at an in-network pharmacy and what the out-of-network pharmacy charged for your prescription.
